Prez. Sirleaf requests to meet with House of Representatives

(elbcradio.com/July 1, 2015)-President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf wants stakeholders’ meeting convened withthe House of Representatives amidst the ongoing education reform saga in the country.

In a letter to House Speaker, Alex Tyler, Tuesday, June 30, 2015, President Sirleaf said: “Theongoing stakeholders ’consultations on the education reform proposal, will bring about a win-win situation.”

“The meetingwill highlight the views of the lawmakersto bring an amicable resolution to the proposal,” she said. The President’s letter brings to two the number of communications written the House of Representatives.

Earlier, the Liberian Leader had informed the lawmakers on the decision taken by a senior member of the Cabinet to close schools by July 31, 2015.

Meanwhile, the House of Representative hasrequested the Ministers of Education and Information, respectively to appear before it next Tuesday, July 2, 2015.

Minsters George Werner and Lewis Brown are to appear to clarify recent statements made by the two Ministers concerning the school system.
