(elbcradio.com/July 3, 2015)-The Liberian Senate has differed with the Education Ministry on the closure of schools July 31, 2015.

The Senate wants schools to remain open with an adjustment in the 2014/2015 academic year from July 31 to September 30, 2015.

The august body argued that during the adjustment period, 9th and 12th Graders should be made to attend Saturday classes to prepare them for the WAEC Exams.

The Senate’s decision follows a recommendation from its Education and Public Administration Committee.

The Senate also welcomed call by President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf for a roundtable discussion on the way forward regarding the current crisis in the Education Sector.
