Prez Sirleaf attends Intl Ebola Recovery Conference

(elbcradio.com/July 9, 2015)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf is attending the International Ebola Recovery Conference at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York, U.S.A.

President Johnson-Sirleaf is joined by her Guinean and Sierra Leonean counterparts at the New York Conference.

The conference, organized by the UN, is intended to draw international attention to support Ebola recovery priorities for the three hard-hit West African nations over a 24-month period.
According to an Executive Mansion release, the talks will consider health, governance and peace-building in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

It will also discuss detailed country-based and regional anti-Ebola strategies, and provide a platform to secure pledges from international donors.

The Conference kicked off today (Thursday, July 9, 2015) and is being held in partnership with the African Union (AU), African Development Bank (ADB), European Union (EU) and the World Bank, the release also said.

At the same time, President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf is expected to join high-profile stakeholders, including Heads of State, at the 3rd International Conference on Financing for Development.

The four-day Conference is expected to run from Monday, July 13 to Thursday, July 16, 2015 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

According to an Executive Mansion release, the deliberations will result in an inter-governmental negotiated outcome to constitute an important contribution and support to the implementation of the post-2015 Development Agenda.

It will also identify obstacles and constraints encountered in the achievement of the goals and objectives agreed upon, actions and initiatives to overcome such obstacles and constraints.

The release also said participants will also discuss the inter-relationship of all sources of development finance and the need to support the United Nations’ development agenda beyond 2015.

The 3rd International Conference on Financing for Development will further look at re-invigorating and strengthening the financing for development follow-up process, it added.
