(elbcradio.com/July 16, 2015)-The football squad of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) Sports Association (FALCONS) has formerly presented to the LBS Management a giant-size trophy.

FALCINS won the trophy recently in the just ended Intra-Governmental League.

The Falcons defeated the Defense Ministry last Friday 2-0 at the ATS to clinch the giant-size trophy, the first major silverware obtained by the State Broadcaster.

A former presentation ceremony was held Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the System’s premises in Paynesville.

At the ceremony, the team’s Captain, Ben Saydee, handed the trophy over to Falcons Acting President, Patrick Honnah, on behalf of FALCONS, for onward presentation to LBS Director-General, Ledgerhood Rennie.

Saydee said: “It was great being a part of the LBS soccer team in the Intra-Governmental tournament. We want to assure you that winning this trophy is just the beginning of many awards to come from the team.”

“I’m a born winner and always want to win every game I participate in.”

Upon receiving the trophy, Mr. Honnah then turn over the award to the LBS Chief Patron of Sports, Ledgerhood Rennie, and praised the LBS management for landing support to the team.

He said: “We have passed through a process and you are quite aware, that last year, we reach the grand finals and became first runners-up when all hopes were so high that we would have carried the trophy than.”

We took that defeat in good faith and today, with a hastily arranged tournament, we have been able to send out a clear message that we are talented and ready to go,” Patrick told the smiling LBS Director-General.

In response, LBS Director General, Ledgerhood Rennie, who is also LBS Chief Patron of Sports, lauded FALCONS for putting LBS in the History book of the Intra Governmental games.

He said: “With the level of support and motivation, I expect more good results from the team. When a team is motivated, it can win any game. There is no so-called juju (medicine) in football.”

The only thing needed in football is constant training and motivation. We trained for this tournament and today we are celebrating our result,” Director-General Rennie also noted.”

“I’m so proud that I can promise you that as long as I am here as Director General of LBS, we will have more successes,” he told the Management Team and the employees, who had gathered on the compound of LBS to grace the ceremony.”

The LBS Chief Patron of Sports, though has some football background and is a member of the Alpha Old-timer Football Team, did not feature in the competition, because of injury.

(elbcradio.com/July 16, 2015)-This year was FALCONS’ third appearance in the Intra Governmental Tournament. During the tournament’s first edition in 2013, the Falcons qualified for the last stage.

FALCONS reached the grand finals in the second edition in 2014 before they were beaten by the Youth and Sports Ministry.

The Intra-Governmental Tournament is an annual sporting event, organized by the Youth and Sports Ministry, for government entities.

The tournament usually features football, kickball, and volleyball, but the 2015 edition only featured kickball and football with only the 2014 edition’s quarter finalists participating in the 2015 edition.

The Kickball title is yet to be decided between the Judiciary and NASSCORP.

The Kickball final was suspended following the issuance of a writ on the tournament by the Monrovia Court, but the legal document has reportedly been withdrawn.
