U.S Congratulates Liberia on 168th National Day

(elbcradio.com/July 25, 2015)-The US Government has congratulated the Government and people of Liberia as they celebrate the country’s 168th independence on July 26.

US Secretary of State, John Kerry, acknowledged that the United States and Liberia share a bond of friendship dating as far back as the first day of the Republic.

In a statement from the US Embassy near Monrovia, Mr. Kerry said the US and Liberia will continue working toward a future of prosperity, dignity and stability for all Liberians.

Secretary of State Kerry applauded the steps Liberia has taken to strengthen the country’s democracy and to promote trade and investment.

The statement quoted him as having said the US is dedicated to working along with Liberia to consolidate regional peace and security.

Secretary of State Kerry also said the US will collaborate with Liberia to support economic development, strengthen democratic institutions and reinforce joint effort to counter the spread of Ebola in West Africa, it added.
