Over US$80m needed to reform Education-Werner

(elbcradio.com/July 29, 2015)-Education Minister, George Werner, says the Ministry needs at least US$80-million to effect necessary reforms in the education system.

Minister Werner said the fund is needed to build more modern and equipped schools, provide adequate instructional materials and train teachers, among other things.

He also said about 41 school projects, at the cost of US$40-million, are being implemented across the country by the ministry, in collaboration with Global Partnership for Education and the World Bank.

The Liberian Education Minister was speaking Tuesday, July 28, 2015 when he led President Johnson-Sirleaf on a guided tour of the newly constructed Kingston Weaja School in Sinoe County.

The construction of the Kingston Weaja School is one of 27 modern school projects already nearing completion in Liberia.

For her part, President Johnson-Sirleaf expressed satisfaction over the project and assured students and citizens of the Liberian Government’s commitment to ensuring quality education through conducive learning environment for all.
