Foreign Minister Ngafuan extols Liberia-China relations

(elbcradio.com/August 4, 2015)- Foreign Minister, Augustine Ngafuan, has described the bilateral relations between Liberia and China as cordial and rewarding.

Minister Ngafuan said:  “Liberia’s Ebola crisis of 2014 was a test of the solidity of the cordial ties that exist between both nations.”

“China distinguished herself as one of the true friends of Liberia during the Ebola crisis,” he noted.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, Minister Ngafuan made the remarks at the weekend during a dinner hosted by the Ministry in honor of a 20-man Chinese Business Delegation.

The Foreign Minister said: “Liberia has already formulated an Economic Recovery Plan to be used as a blueprint for the economic advancement of the country.”

He also disclosed that Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, is expected to visit Liberia for the first time upon the return of the Chinese Business Delegation..

Minister Ngafuan urged the Chinese delegation to seek partnerships with Liberian entrepreneurs to invest in the private sector of the country for economic growth.

The Chinese delegation comprises representatives of Chinese companies and it was accompanied by Liberia’s Ambassador accredited near Beijing, McKinley Thomas.

In remarks, Chinese Ambassador accredited to Liberia. Zhang Yue, expressed happiness over the warm hospitality accorded the Chinese delegation. 

The Chinese delegation’s visit to Liberia is intended to explore investment opportunities in the areas of infrastructure, energy and other local businesses, among others.
