Prez Sirleaf praises Liberia-China relations

(elbcradio.com/Aug. 7, 2015)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has praised Liberia-China relations, and emphasized the need to move their relations to higher level.

President Johnson-Sirleaf said: “For too long the two countries have had partnership, but have not maximized the prevailing opportunities.”

She made the commendation Thursday, August 6, 2015 when she met with the visiting Chinese Business Delegation in Monrovia. During their meeting, the Liberian Leader called for deepened relations that would accrue benefits like other African Countries.

President Johnson-Sirleaf expressed concern over delay in three major projects and stressed the need for them to be implemented quickly.

For his part, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, Zhang Yue, described the delegation as the largest in many years.
He said the visit is a manifestation of China-Liberia win-win operations.

In a related story, President Johnson-Sirleaf has congratulated the Government and people of Cote d’Ivoire on the occasion marking its 55th Independence Anniversary.
La Cote d’Ivoire declared her independence on August 7, 1960.

In her message to Ivory Coast President, Alassane Ouattara, President Johnson-Sirleaf said: “It gives me immense pleasure to extend to President Ouattara, the Government and people of Cote d’Ivoire heartfelt congratulations and best wishes.”

She expressed optimism that, as the people of Cote d’Ivoire commemorate such joyous occasion, the historic and cordial ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries will be further strengthened for mutual benefit.

The Liberian Leader hoped that Liberia and Cote d’Ivoire will continue working together in furtherance of the principles of the Mano River Union, the Economic Community of West African States, the African Union and the United Nations.

She noted that the two countries will continue working together to further these principles for the promotion of Regional and International peace, security and Economic cooperation amongst all nations.

The Liberian President prayed that God will give President Alassane Ouattara abundant wisdom and strength as he leads his people to sustainable peace and greater prosperity.
