(elbcradio.com/Aug. 10, 2015)-China has provided US$320,000.00 for the construction of a diplomatic lounge in Liberia.

Foreign Minister, Augustine Ngafuan said: “The amount is going to be directly donated to the Foreign Affairs Ministry to carry out the project, since, in fact, all diplomatic and foreign mission issues are supervised by the ministry.”

Minister Ngafuan also said the lounge will be situated at the Roberts International Airport in Margibi County.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, the amount is being committed through China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will coordinate with the Chinese Embassy near Monrovia and the Management of the Roberts International Airport (RIA) for the project’s implementation.

He noted that President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in thanking Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, for such a generous donation.

Minister Ngafuan made the statement over the weekend at a press conference in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Foyer in Monrovia.

The press conference followed several meetings between the visiting Chinese delegation, the Chinese Foreign Minister and the Liberian Government, represented by Foreign Minister Ngafuan.

The Liberian Foreign Minister also praised the strong bilateral ties existing between the two countries and thanked his Chinese counterpart for the visit to Liberia.
