( 18, 2015)-Liberia’s Constitution Review Commission (CRC) has been extolled for its excellent work.

President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf made the commendation Monday, August 17, 2015 when she received the CRC’s final report at her Foreign Ministry office in Monrovia.

An Executive Mansion release said the report contains final proposals for possible amendment of the 1986 Constitution of Liberia, following nearly three years of consultations across both the country and the Diaspora.

President Johnson-Sirleaf also said: “The move to amend the Constitution draws from the need to ensure the organic law suits contemporary realities.”

Presenting the CRC’s final report earlier, the Commission Chairperson, Gloria Scott, thanked the Liberian Leader for the confidence reposed in them.

Cllr. Scott also praised the cooperation of the Governance and Law Reform Commission, the Liberia Broadcasting System and the citizenry for their respective contributions to the process.

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL), United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Nations Peace Building Fund (UNPBF) were among major donors of the constitution review process.-
