(elbcradio.com/Aug. 20, 2015)-Vice President, Joseph Boakai, has hailed Liberia’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Vice President Boakai described the move as very important, because it will improve the economy and livelihood of the citizenry.

He said: “I look forward to the realization of the accession.”
He thanked the team behind the effort, led by Commerce Minister, Axel Addy, for the work done so far on the accession document and other processes.

The Liberian Vice President made the remarks Wednesday, August 19, 2015 when he met with the visiting WTO Delegation.

The Head of the WTO Delegation, Joakim Reiter, said Liberia has made remarkable achievement in the process.
“Liberia has commanded a strong support in the process,” Mr. Reiter also said.

He noted that being a member of the WTO, ensures market access and makes the country resilient to economic down turns.

The WTO Boss, however, emphasized: “The package for the accession to the World Trade Organization must reflect national ambitions.”
