(elbcradio.com/Aug. 20, 2015)-The Senate has rejected a request by its committee to allow the World Trade Organization’s Delegation meet with the august body’s Plenary.

The WTO Delegation is in the country to hold talks with the Liberian Government.

While in the country, the Delegation will present Liberia’s Draft Accession Package to the Senate Plenary.

The decision to reject the WTO Delegation’s appearance before the Senate Plenary followed a motion by Grand Cape Mount County Senator, Varney Sherman.

Senator Sherman, in his motion, argued that the WTO Delegation should only meet with the Senate Committee on Commerce.

But other Senators, including Jonathan Kaipay and Thomas Grupee support the Delegation’s appearance before Plenary.

The two Senators said: “The WTO Delegation needs to explain to the entire Plenary the importance of its visit to Liberia.”
