(elbcradio.com/Aug. 27, 2015)-The Liberian Government has urged participants from the three worst Ebola-affected countries and partners to deliberate on vaccines’ development to tackle the disease in the sub-region.

According to Foreign Minister, August Ngafuan, the Ebola threat created panic around the world.

Minister Ngafuan said the Ebola threat caused the United Nations Security Council to, for the first time, declare the pandemic a threat to global peace and security.

The Liberian Foreign Minister spoke Wednesday, August 26, 2015 when he officially opened a two-day Sub- Regional Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) Collaboration Conference in Monrovia.

The Conference is taking place under the theme: “Ethical and Regulatory Challenges during Emergency Situation.”
It is being attended by delegates from the three worst Ebola- affected countries, including Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

“During the heat of the Ebola crisis in the three nations, ethical and regulatory standards were not a major concern to doctors whose aim was more to save lives,” Minister Ngafuan noted.

He emphasized: “The Ebola crisis exposed Liberians to many fears in many ways that led to the death of several health workers and family members in a bid to save lives.”
