CDA gives LD2.7m loan for regional credit unions

(elbcradio.com/Aug. 28, 2015)-The Cooperative Development Agency (CDA) has extended loans worth LD2.7m to four Regional Credit Unions.

The disclosure was made recently in Monrovia by CDA Senior Registrar General, Richelieu Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell said: “The Unions are based in Bomi, Nimba, Grand Bassa, and Grand Gedeh Counties.” He added that 72% of CDA's 5,100 members are engaged in the Agriculture Sector.

The CDA Senior Registrar General noted that from January 2014 to present, Women Cooperative Groups received LD530, 000.00, while their male counterparts received LD711, 000.00 in loans.

Mr. Mitchell then lauded the World Council of Credit Unions (WCCU) for assisting the CDA with US$138,456.00.

The money was used to facilitate the construction of the four regional organizations’ Headquarters
