(elbcradio.com/Sept., 7, 2015)-The Education Ministry says in-eligible 9th and 12th graders will be required to re-sit the exams in May, 2016.

The ministry made specific reference to 9th and 12th graders, who sat the Private Candidates’ Examination (PCE) during the 2015 condensed school year.

The Ministry's statement follows reports that students were deceived by some individuals with offers to sit the WAEC exams for which they are not eligible.

The Ministry has, meanwhile, condemned such act, describing it as fraudulent.

It said, the recent exams were only opened to students unsuccessful in their first WEAC sitting and to private candidates with transcripts from last schools attended as proof of completing Grades 9th 12th.

Meanwhile, the Education Ministry has warned that no school-based exams would be offered in 2015 for 9th and 12th graders.

The ministry considers its decision as necessary, having realized that more than half of high school students who sat the 2014 WAEC exams failed.
