(elbcradio.com/Sept. 7, 2015)-Health Minister, Bernice Dahn, says the Ministry plans to strengthen three regional hospitals over the next two years.

Dr. Dahn named the three health-related institutions as the Redemption Hospital in Monrovia, Montserrado County; J.J. Dossen Memorial Hospital in Harper City, Maryland County; and Phebe Hospital, in Bong County.

She said the Redemption Hospital will be relocated to a 35-acre of land in Caldwell to transform the hospital into a 300-bed facility.

“It is imperative to boost the three hospitals, because they will serve as training institutions for medical students and prospective healthcare workers, including medical doctors,” Dr. Dahn also said.

The Health Minister noted that assessment for Phebe Hospital has been done to up-grade the institution to a standard teaching hospital.

She added: “The Phebe hospital’s up-grading project will cost about US$11-million.”

Dr. Dahn further noted that the Health Ministry’s plans for the three regional hospitals are being undertaken by the Liberian Government with support from the World Health Organization (WHO).
