Education Ministry drafts new Educator Policy

(elbcradio.com/Sept. 29, 2015)-The Ministry of Education says it has drafted the Educator Management Policy of Liberia.

Education Minister, George Werner, said: “The policy focuses on teachers, school administrators and on education officers.”

The policy document also focuses on the regulations and procedures for
and non-financial incentives for educators.

“The document was drafted with stakeholders’ inputs and was sponsored by USAID and the Liberia Teacher Training Program (LTTP),” Education Minister Werner said.

According to the Liberia News Agency (LINA), the Education Minister made the disclosure Thursday, September 25, 2015 at the regular press briefing of the Information Ministry in Monrovia.

Minister Werner said: “The policy is in line with the Civil Service Human Resources Manual and the Civil Service Law of Liberia, respectively.”

He said other key aspects of the document include funding and resources, guidelines, timetable for implementation. “The revision and evaluation of the policy are critical components of the Educator Management Policy of Liberia,”

Minister Werner noted.The formulation of the document is part of the Education Ministry’s ongoing reform process of the country’s education sector.

The final sections of the policy address the issues of funding and
other resources needed to implement it, and timeline for implementation of various aspects of the policy.

They also address other issues including evaluation guidelines, and revising the guidelines, Minister Werner added.
