Proposed Land Authority Act ends in deadlock

Joseph Sayon

(elbcradio.com/Oct. 2, 2015)-Public hearing on the proposed Land Authority Act of Liberia ended in deadlock Wednesday, September 30, 2015.

It followed reservations expressed by Internal Affairs Minister, Morris Dukuly.

Minister Dukuly told the Senate Committee on Lands, Mines, and Energy that the Act has serious lapses.   He urged the Senate to return the Act to the Land Commission for more consultations, because the current version is a recipe for conflict.

But the Senate Committee Chairman said he will submit the outcome of Wednesday’s hearing to the plenary for action.
Senator Albert Chea said plenary will decide whether, or not the Act will be passed, or sent back for consultations.
