( 5, 2015)-Liberia National Football team (Lone Star)’s head coach, James Debbah, has named 26 players, invited for the Lone Star’s home match against Guinea Bissau.

The match, scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia, is the first leg of the 2018 FIFA World Cup preliminaries.

Coach Debbah released the names of the 26 invited players recently at a news conference in the Liberian Capital.

He told reporters: “There is no room on the team for club-less, Sekou Jabateh.” We have recalled Patrick Wleh to the National team for the first time under the current technical team.

Coach Debbah, however, said Patrick Wleh’s chances of playing in Thursday’s fixture was 50-50, because the towering striker was nursing injury he picked up recently in the Malaysian league.

The 26 player listing includes 17 foreign-based and nine locals invited to participate in the team’s training session to justify themselves for the Thursday’s game.

Also recalled to the team is FC Fassell’s shot stopper, Sampson Giddings, returning to the team after recovering from hand injury, while first choice Goal Keeper, Nathaniel Sherman, remains on the sideline owning to eye injury.

Coach Debbah has also recalled another player, Dioh Williams, earlier expelled by past technical staffs.
Debbah also told reporters: “I’m the Coach and I select players on what I think is expedient.”

The local players have already commenced training, while their oversea colleagues’ arrival is being awaited.
The 26 names of players will be reduced to 18 for the game against Guinea Bissau.

Ahead of Thursday’s cracker, the GSM Company, Cellcom, has reiterated its commitment to supporting the Liberia National Football team, Lone Star, and the Local Football Association (LFA).

Cellcom has been supporting football in Liberia for several years now and the company says it will step up such commitment to both the National team and the LFA.

“Cellcom was excited in landing support to Liberia’s National Football Team and the Liberia Football Association (LFA),” the company’s Corporate Communication Officer, Kemmie Weeks, told reporters.
