Senate ratifies MC Compact agreement, wants Lower House concurred

(elbcradio.com/Oct. 14, 2015)-The Liberian Senate has ratified and forwarded the Millennium Challenged Compact (MCC) agreement to the House of Representatives for concurrence.

The MCC was ratified Tuesday, October 13, 2015, following a report from the Legislative joint committee on Ways, Means and finance.

ccording to our reporter, under the agreement, Liberia will receive a grant of over US$250-million dollars from the US Government.

The money will be used to revamp the electricity sector, and enhance road maintenance across the Country. At the same time, the Senate has passed into law the fire armed and ammunition control act of Liberia.

The passage of the act follows recommendation from the Senate Committee on Defense, Security and Intelligence. Our reporter said, the passage of the act will empower the security sector to manage Liberia’s security.
