President Sirleaf ensures government's support to the National Team 'Lone Star'

(www.elbcradio.com/Oct. 17, 2015)-President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has assured the National football team of government’s unhindered support to qualify “Lone Star’’  in the qualifying rounds of  the African Nations Cup and  the World Cup.

President Sirleaf described the Lone Star’s victory over Guinea Bissau, as a day that they made the country proud and pronounced government’s extended support covering other major competitions for the team.

“This day belongs to you. It belongs to you because you have earned it. ” She President Sirleaf said: “These are the real people; the people who I want to thank are you, the national team”, the president admitted.

The Liberian leader, made the statement Friday, October 16, 2015 when   the Lone Star paid a courtesy call on the Chief Patron of Sports at her Foreign Ministry’s Office to officially inform her of the team’s 3-1 victory over Guinea Bissau on Tuesday, October 13, 2015.

Liberia qualified 4-2 on aggregate after being held 1-1 in Monrovia on Thursday, October 8, 2015. They now face reigning African champions Ivory Coast next month in another home-and-away tie in the World Cup qualifying series.

President Sirleaf also lauded and thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Liberia Football Association, the mobilization committee, the coaches and staff of the Lone Star for a job well done.
  
The Senior National Head Coach, James Salinsa Debah, and the president of Liberia Football Association, Musa H. Bility made separate remarks and thanked the government for the level of support and promised to defense Liberia against our opponents ahead of them.

In his presentation, Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Lenn Eugene Nagbe, made available the National Football Master Plan to President Sirleaf.

The Lone Star team  was embraced by crowd of supporters, they also marched throughout the principle streets of Monrovia to Antoinette Tubman Stadium to celebrate the team’s 3-1 victory over Guinea Bissau.
