(elbcradio.com/Oct. 21, 2015)-Another round of polio vaccination gets underway in Liberia.

The campaign targets over 900-thousand children less than five years of age and it kicks off from Friday, October 23 to Monday, October 26, 2015 throughout the country.

The Assistant Director for Health Promotion at the Ministry of Health, Richard Zeon, and EPI Communication Focal Person, said the campaign will protect the children from the deadly virus disease.

The Health Ministry officials spoke with ELBC Tuesday, October 20, 2015 in Monrovia.

According to them, the vaccine will be administered, along with vitamin “A”, to build the children’s immune system and de-warming medicine to remove worms from them and enhance their growth and development.

The Health Ministry personnel also said though no strains of the disease has been reported in the country, repeated rounds of the campaign are necessary to help contribute to the safety of the region.

They encouraged parents and caretakers to take advantage of the exercise and ensure that their children are vaccinated.
