Funds to improve energy, health sectors negotiated

(elbcradio.com/Oct. 30, 2015)-Negotiations to secure funding to improve Liberia’s energy and health sectors are nearing conclusion between Liberia and the Export Import Bank of India.

President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf is leading the discussions, on behalf of the Government in New Delhi, India. President Johnson-Sirleaf is participating in the third edition of the India-Africa Summit Forum which kicked off today.

Speaking to this station via mobile phone from India, the Liberian Leader said: “The Government is by now concluding arrangements to secure a line of credit to enable electricity transition and distribution in the country.”

She told ELBC that she is also engaging the India Exim Bank for support to upgrade the JFK Medical Center, among others.

“The Government is expecting final result of these negotiations during her meeting with Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Friday,” the President also noted.

The Liberian Chief Executive met with executives of the bank and other leading entrepreneurs Wednesday in the Indian Capital.

The India-Africa Summit ends Friday.
