(, 2015)-The West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone “A” Tournament ended over the week-end with Liberia’s local-based National Team finishing as runners up to host, Senegal.

Senegal was crowned Champions after their arch rival neighbor, the Gambia, was disqualified. The final match between Senegal and the Gambia ended 0-0 after 90 minutes, but the Gambians refused to play the mandatory extra time.

They claimed that they were told that penalties would have decided the winner in the event of a tie, but the referee ordered for extra time to be played.

The Gambia, however, maintained their stance and Senegal was therefore awarded the win.
The match official’s decision automatically disqualified the Gambia from the competition for their refusal to continue with the mandatory extra time.

Earlier during the day, Liberia beat Guinea Bissau 1-0 in the third place match.
The Gambians’ disqualification helped Liberia to finish second behind Champions Senegal and Guinea Bissau took the third place in the classifications.

Liberia lost its opening game against the Gambia. The final game between Senegal and the Gambia was commissioned by Liberia’s Assistant Minister for Sports at the Youth and Sports Ministry, Murvee Gray.
