Liberia to get int'l support to fight against Climate Change

(elbcradio.com/Dec. 16, 2016)-The International Community has pledged to mobilize US$1m annually to support Liberia in the implementation of the agreement on Climate Change.

Representatives of developed countries made the commitment recently at the just-ended ParisConference on Climate Change.

The Agreement is a globalinitiative which seeks to address climate-related issues affecting underdeveloped countries, including the reduction of global emission by 30 percent over the next ten years.

Meanwhile, theFrench Government has reaffirmed its commitment to support the Agreement on Climate Change.

French Ambassador to Liberia, Joel Godeausaid:” France has already agreed to contributethree billion United States Dollars by the year 2025, through an annual payment of five million.”

Ambassador Godeau made the statement Tuesday, December 15, 2015 when he spoke with elbcradio.com in Monrovia.
He said his government’s contribution is part of the developed countries’ pledge tosupport the Agreement.

The French Ambassador also disclosed that the implementation ofthe Agreement will be reviewed after every five years.
