(elbcradio.com/Dec. 17, 201)-Vice President, Joseph Boakai, is in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, attending the 40th Anniversary of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Vice President Boaka, at the head of a high power Liberian delegation, is representing President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf at that historic occasion.

While in Nigeria, the Liberian Vice President will address African Heads of State on current issues confronting Africa.

According to the Minister Counselor for Press and Public Affairs at the Liberian Embassy in Nigeria, Nat Bayjay, VP Boakai was well received by the Nigerian Government upon arrival.

At the same time, Mr. Bayjay told elbcradio.com that the Vice President also received a rousing welcome by the Liberian community in that West Africa state.

The Economic Community of West African States was established in 1975 with headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria for the sole purpose of promoting the economic advancement of ECOWAS member states.

However, as a consequence of persistent wave of insurrections in the sub-region over the years, ECOWAS was transitioned from its economic mandate to political, social and military protocols to promote regional peace and security.
