Prez. Sirleaf appoints new BWI Principal

(elbcradio.com/Dec. 28, 2015)-President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has appointed Harris Fomba Tarnue as Principal of the Booker Washington Institute (BWI) in Kakata, Margibi County.

Mr. Tarnue replaces Alexander Melvin Massey who served as Interim Principal of the Institute for two years.

According to an Executive Mansion release, the appointment of the BWI Principal is in keeping with Article Four-H of the Charter, creating the Booker Washington Institute.

The release quotes the Board of Governors of the BWI, as saying: “Mr. Tarnue’s appointment followed a Civil Service Agency –coordinated competitive vetting process.”

The Chair and Ex-Officio of the BWI Board of Governors, President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, said: “The Civil Service Agency was mandated to conduct a vetting process to select the most qualified candidate for the position.“

On December 2, 2015, the BWI Board of Governors accepted the nomination of Mr. Tarnue as Principal of the institution.
The appointment, according to the release, takes immediate effect.
