Liberia consoles Nigeria and China

( 30, 2015)-The Government of Liberia says it is saddened over the deaths of one hundred Nigerians and two Chinese following an explosion and mudslide in Nigeria and China, respectively.

Government described the two incidents as unfortunate and terribly worrisome.
According to a Foreign Ministry release, the Government’s statement of consolation was contained in separate messages of condolence to Nigeria and China.

In the message to Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, expressed hearth felt condolences to the Government and People of Nigeria, especially the bereaved families for the irreparable losses sustained.

The Liberian Leader said:  “As the people of Nigeria mourn the deaths of their compatriots, the Almighty God will grant President Buhari strength, courage and fortitude during the period of their National calamity.”

The release says the two incidents also left several persons injured in the explosion in Anambra, Nigeria, while ninety-one others reported missing in Shenzhen City, Guangong Province, China.

In a related development, President Sirleaf also extended hearth felt condolences to t Government and People of China, especially the bereaved families of the victims.

The release quotes the President as saying: “The resilience and strength the people of China exhibited during similar situations will remain a hallmark as they go through their period of National mourning.”

According to diplomatic sources, bilateral relations between Liberia and Nigeria have accrued excellent political dividends for the mutual benefits of both countries.

At the same time, China-Liberia relations cannot go unnoticed, as evidenced by the enormous assistance to Liberia, especially in the areas of education, health, agriculture and infrastructure, among others.
