(elbcradio.com, Dec. 31, 2015)- The National Elections Commission (NEC) has declared Independent Candidate, Julia Fatuma-Weah, as winner of Lofa County District Two Bye- election.

NEC Chairman, Jerome Korkoyah, made the pronouncement Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Commission’s Headquarters in Sinkor, a suburb of the Liberian capital, Monrovia.

Cllr. Korkoyah said: “Madam Fatuma-Weah accumulated one thousand nine hundred seventy-four votes, constituting 20.1 percent of the total votes count.”

Madam Fatuma-Weah replaces Representative Fofee Baima, who died in early September, 2015.

Prior to the process, the National Elections Commission qualified ten candidates to contest the Lofa County Bye-election.

According to sources from the Commission, the ten candidates included eight males and two females, representing political parties with one independent candidate, respectively.
