Prez. Sirleaf Signs Book of Condolence for Amb. Ballmoos

(elbcradio.com/Jan. 5, 2016)-President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Tuesday led an array of government officials to sign the Book of Condolence for Ambassador Rudolph Von Ballmoos at the Foreign Ministry in Monrovia.

The officials include Cabinet Ministers and members of the Liberian Senate, headed by Vice President, Joseph Boakai, among others.

Speaking to reporters, Acting Foreign Minister, Elias Shoniyin, described the death of the Liberian diplomat as a great loss to the country’s foreign mission.

Minister Shoniyin said: “The fallen Ambassador ably represented the country for many years, boosting diplomatic relations between Liberia and other friendly countries during his tenure.”

Speaking on behalf of the family, the fallen Ambassador’s widow, Mrs. Angie Von Ballmoos, described her husband as a caring and loving husband and father who served his country with commitment.

Prior to his death, Ambassador Ballmoos served as Liberia’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland in London.
He died on December 17, 2015 in the United Kingdom.

His body was flown into the country Monday, January 4, 2016 and subsequent interment is scheduled for this Saturday.
According to Minister Shoniyin, government will give the late Ambassador Ballmiis a befitting state funeral and burial.
