Outgoing Information Minister praises Liberian Media

(elbcradio.com/Jan. 7, 2016)-Outgoing Information Minister, has lauded the Liberian media for the cooperation and support during his tenure.

Ambassador Designate, Lewis Brown, expressed optimism that such partnership will continue to enhance democracy,   sustained economic growth and national development

Ambassador Brown recounted the excellent partnership that existed between government and the media during the Ebola crisis.

The Outgoing Information Minister, said: “I am leaving with the impression that the cooperation between government and the media will be elevated to a more positive level to benefit every Liberian. “

He said Africa needs a media that will help governments to foster national development and improve the livelihood of the ordinary people.

Ambassador Brown emphasized:  “A more cooperative media that sees itself as part of national decision making is most preferred in Africa than a watchdog media of critical coverage.”

Mr. Brown is among the latest changes made by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. He was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, pending confirmation by the Liberian Senate.

Youth and Sports Minister, Len Eugene Nagbe, was appointed as the new Information Minister.
