(elbcradio.com/Jan. 12, 2016)-The Government of Liberia has clarified that it owes no former Ebola workers hazard benefits as claimed by them.

Health Minister, Dr. Bernice Dahn, said contrary to the claim, government has already settled the hazard benefits of former Ebola workers.

Dr. Dahn said: “The Health Ministry and its partners are not aware of being indebted to any group, or anyone who worked during the Ebola crisis.”

“Former Ebola workers claiming hazard benefits must submit a formal request to the Ministry of Finance & Development Planning with proper documentation to substantiate their claims,” she said.

The Health Minister, however, said government will be liable to underwrite the payment of hazard benefits if it is proven that the Ministry is indebted to anyone or group.

Dr. Dahn emphasized: “The Ministry of Health will not hesitate to prosecute former Ebola workers falsely claiming hazard benefits without out fear or favor.”

The Health Minister spoke Monday, January 11, 2016 at a news conference in Monrovia.

In recent months, there have been simultaneous protests by former Ebola workers in demand of hazard benefits allegedly owed by Government for services rendered during the height of the Ebola crisis in Liberia.
