(elbcradio.com/Jan.12, 2016)-Government has expressed its preparedness to assume security following the draw-down of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL).

Justice Minister, Benedict Sannoh, said: “Government has already begun robust measures to ensure that the country’s security is properly handled ahead of UNMIL’s draw-down plan.

He appealed to Liberians, especially residents and citizens of Cape Mount County, to take the lead in sustaining the peace and security of the country.

The Liberian Attorney General named capacity building, the provision of logistics to security personnel, attractive incentives, among others, as some of the measures are vital to enhancing the country’s security.

Minister Sannoh said:  “The draw-down plan of government will focus on improved security- community relations.”

“Such collaboration between the security and community dwellers is aimed at constructing security councils in county districts and communities throughout the country,” he noted.

The Justice Minister gave the assurance Monday, January 12, 2016 during a Security Transition Town Hall Meeting in Robert sport, Grand Cape Mount County, Southwestern Liberian.
