Prez. Sirleaf off to attend AU 26th Session in Ethiopia

(elbcradio.com/Jan. 27, 2016)-President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has departed the country for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to join her colleagues at the 26th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Union.
        

An Executive Mansion release says, the Assembly, will run from January 30 – 31 and expected to be attended by the Heads-of-State and Government.

During the African Leaders are expected to officially launch this year’s theme: “African Year of Human Rights with a particular focus on Women Rights.”      

The Assembly will also consider Reports and Draft Decisions of Committees of the Assembly of the Union, including President Sirleaf, Chairperson of the High Level Committee on the Post-2015 Development Agenda.     

On January 31, the African Union Commission Chairperson, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, will tender a luncheon in honor of Heads-of-State and Government, senior government officials, business  and personalities.

Others include companies and partners who contributed to the African Union Support to the Ebola Outbreak in West Africa, as well as representatives of ASEOWA health workers, among others.
                      
A total of eight hundred fifty-five African health workers were deployed to the three most affected countries by the African Union through its AEOWA mission.

While President Sirleaf is away, Justice Minister, Cllr. Benedict Sannoh, will chair the Cabinet, in consultation with Vice President, Joseph Boakai.
       
The Liberian leader and delegation are expected to return to the country on Monday, February.
