By Nathan Charles and Jos Garneo Cephas

(lbsonline/Monrovia)-The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has called for increase support for awareness in tackling family planning and mortality.

“The cost of ignoring the right to family planning is leading to increase poverty, exclusion, poor health, and gender inequality”, UNFPA Country’s Representative, Esperance Fundira has said.

Madam Fundira made the call when she released the state of the world population-2012, on 22nd November 2012 in Monrovia.

The UNFPA Representative said this would enable individuals to properly space their children.

Fundira said: “family planning has changed how women can seek education, empowerment, and economic activities”.

The UN agency said the rights to family planning cannot be realized without civil society, health providers, including government and partners taking responsibility.

The UNFPA also wants government remove all economic, social, legal, and logistical obstacles relating to family planning for all Liberians.

The UNFPA Country’s representative said educated and wealthier people around the world must take advantage of family planning.
