China donates equipment to Liberian Army

(elbcradio.com/Feb. 11, 2016) - The Government of China has donated a fleet of earth moving equipment and military supplies to Liberia.

The equipment, valued at three million United States Dollars, will be used by the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL). They include twenty trucks, two road graters, along with ten thousand sets of military uniforms and forty tents.

Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, Zhang Yue, presented the equipment Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Barclay Training Center (BTC) in Monrovia in commemoration of the 59th Celebration of Armed Forces Day.

Ambassador Yue said: “China’s gesture is indicative of its strong and sincere commitment to support Liberia’s over-all development, especially in the security sector ahead of UNMIL’s drawdown.”

In remarks, the Commander –In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, commended China for its continued support to Liberia.

President Sirleaf acknowledged that China’s support has positively impacted the lives of the Liberian people as a demonstration of true partnership to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Commander-In-Chief said: “The equipment will boost the AFL’s efforts to support national development across the country.”
