Gov’t refutes media reports on Harry Greases’ death
(elbcradio.com/Feb. 19, 2016) – The Liberian Government has refuted media reports surrounding the death of former Managing Director of the Liberia Petroleum Refinery Company (LPRC)), Harry Greaves.

Justice Minister, Cllr. Benedict Sannoh, said contrary to the reports, there are no discrepancies between the report from the John F. Kennedy Medical Center and that of the Autopsy Report released by the American pathologists.

Minister Sannoh said: “Government has not wavered consistent with its promise to conduct a full scale investigation into the death of Harry Greaves.”

Cllr. Sannoh cautioned the media to desist from spreading falsehood concerning the situation.

The Justice Minister made the statement Friday, February 19, 2016 at the regular press briefing of the Information Ministry in Monrovia.

Minister Sannoh said: “Government has initiated consultations with another pathologist institution in the United States to send a pathologist to review the two reports and provide professional opinion.”

“Two American Law Enforcement Officers have already arrived in the country to assist in the investigation surrounding the death of Mr. Greaves,” he emphasized.

He said the arrival of the American law enforcement officers is in response to request by President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf to the United States Government.

Minister Sannoh emphasized:” If it is necessary to conduct another forensic autopsy on the body of Mr. Greaves, Government is prepared to underwrite the cost.”

The death of Mr. Greaves has sparked off mixed public reactions across the country for about a month now.

One account of the argument attributes the death of Mr. Greaves to foul play due to its suspicious nature on the one hand, while another indicates that he died of drowning.

However, the recent provisional Autopsy report conducted by two American pathologists, attributed Mr. Greaves’ death to drowning.

Mr. Greaves was discovered dead Sunday, January 31, 2016 on a beach in Monrovia.
