Liberia, APRM Secretariat to sign MOU

(elbcradio.com/Feb. 22, 2016) –Liberia and the Secretariat of the Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) shortly.

The MOU, according to a release, is intended to provide technical assistance to the APRM Liberia Program.  

The release says a high power delegation of the Africa Peer Review Mechanism Country Support is in the country for a five day mission.

The team, led by the organization’s Eminent Person, Bridgitte Mabandla from Continental Secretariat in South Africa, will assess Liberia’s preparedness for APRM’s country self-assessment and review reports,

It will conduct awareness with state and non-state actors in the APRN process.

The APRM officials will meet with President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf to sign the MOU between Liberia and the Africa Peer Review Mechanism.
The delegation will also meet with Liberia’s APRM National Focal Point,

Finance and Development Planning Minister, Amara Konneh, members of the Liberia APRM National Governing Council, the National Secretariat, and Technical Research Institutions, among others.

Liberia acceded to 14th Forum of Heads of State and Government of the APRM in January 2011 and has made meaningful contributions in terms of representation and participation.

In May, 2013, President Sirleaf was appointed Chairperson of the APRM Forum at the 19th Summit of Heads of State and Government participating in the APRM in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
