(elbcradio.com/Feb. 23, 2016)- The Liberia Football Association(LFA) has imposed a ban on UNMIL Radio Sports Reporter, Danesius Marteh, from all football activities in Liberia.

The LFA, in a release, said its action is based on Journalist Marteh’s continuous disrespectful attitude to football personalities and unprofessional acts.

The Association made specific reference to recent utterances attributed to Mr. Marteh against Liberia’s football icon, George Weah, during a talk show on a local radio in Monrovia.

The LFA described the action by Journalist Marteh as ethical breach, unwarranted and a gross abuse of freedom of speech and of the Press as enshrined in the Liberian Constitution, PUL Code of Ethics and Sports Writers association, respectively.

The LFA says while it welcomes disagreements in the sporting arena, it would not condone acts of indiscipline capable of bringing the game into public disrepute.

Meanwhile, the LFA is calling on the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Sports Writers Association of Liberia, the Media, including its membership, to support its decision against journalist Marteh.

The release also quotes authorities of the LFA as saying:” Football goes with discipline and responsibility. The entire membership should exercise high degree of good deportment for the development of sports in Liberia.”
