In Loan Agreement: Lofa Citizens to get paved road soon

(elbcradio.com/Feb. 24, 2016) -The people of Salayea District in Lofa County stand to benefit from a paved road soon.

Government says the pavement of the Gbarnga-Salayea Road is part of the First Phase of the Gbarnga-MendiKorma Road Project.

Finance and Development Planning Minister, Amara Konneh, made the disclosure Monday, February 23, 2016 in Vienna, Austria when the Liberian Government and OPEC Fund International Development signed a 20-million United Loan Agreement.

Minister Konneh signed on behalf of Government, while OPEC Fund Director General, Suleiman Al-Herbish, signed for his entity pending legislative ratification of the document.

The Finance and Development Planning Minister said: “The First Phase of Lot 1 of the Gbarnga–MendiKorma Road project’s advance procurement process has already been approved.”

“This project is a positive step by the Liberian Government through the Finance and Development Planning Ministry in delivering the development targets under its Agenda for Transformation, “Minister Konneh.

In remarks, the Director General of the OPEC Fund for International Development, Suleiman Al-Herbish, welcomed Minister Konneh and Delegation.
Mr. Al-Herbish said: “The loan is intended to raise the standards of living for citizens of Bong and Lofa Counties, reduce the time and cost of travel, improve accessibility and achieve security and safety on the road.”

He pledged the Fund’s support to the development of Liberia.
