Prez. Sirleaf and Brigitte Mabandla signed MOU to APRM

(elbcradio.com/Feb. 24, 2016)–President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf   has described the  Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM),  as  crucial for not only improving governance on the continent, but also ensuring effective monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals.

TheLiberian Leader, who is an outgoing Chairperson of APRM said: “Liberia had already put in place required policies and structures for the effective roll-out of the APRM in Liberia”.

In May, 2013, President Sirleaf was appointed Chairperson of the APRM Forum at the 19th Summit of Heads of State and Government participating in the APRM in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

President Sirleaf expressed delight at the signing ceremony of the APRM on February 24, 2016 in Monrovia, when she signed on behalf of Liberia wile a lead panelist continental secretariat in South Africa, Brigitte Mabandla signed for the APRM.

Madam Mabandla, told the Press: “The MOU demonstrates government’s commitment to give the national governing council the space to do its work”.

At the same time the Co-Chair of the National Governing Council of the APRM in Liberia, Malcom Joseph Welcomed the government’s move

Liberia acceded to 14th Forum of Heads of State and Government of the APRM in January 2011 and has made meaningful contributions in terms of representation and participation.
