Sweden commits $88m to Liberia

(elbcradio.com/Feb. 26, 2016) -The Swedish Government has announced a five-year development package for Liberia.

Swedish Ambassador to Liberia, Lena Nordstrom, said the development package, valued at $US 88- million, is intended to support the construction of feeder roads, decentralization process, as well as the fight against Gender-based Violence.

Ambassador Nordstrom made the disclosure Wednesday, February 26, 2016 at the official launch of the Step-Down Training Toolkit on Legislative Engagement and Policy Issues Forum, organized by the National Democratic Institute(NDI) in Monrovia.

She said: “The Toolkit on Legislative Engagement is being supported by the Swedish Government through the NDI, under the Project,” Building Citizens Centered Activism and Legislative Advocacy.”

Liberia and Sweden have built strong bilateral ties over the years, particularly in the areas of international cooperation, development, technical and vocational education, health, among others.
