( 2, 2016)-The Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has nominated former Information Minister, Lewis Brown, as Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

According to an Executive Mansion release, Mr. Brown’s nomination was contained in a communication to the Senate Pro-Tempore, Armah Jallah, Tuesday, March 1, 2016, requesting his confirmation.

He replaces Foreign Minister, Manjor Kamara.
Prior to his nomination, the former Information Minister was re-assigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Ambassador at-Large.

Mr. Brown was replaced by Lenn Eugene Nagbe as Information Minister who earlier served as Minister of Youth and Sports.

The release is also quoted as saying the Senate has forwarded the President’s communication to its Committee on Foreign Affairs, to take charge of the confirmation proceedings and report to Plenary this Thursday, March 3, 2016.

Consistent with Constitutional provision, Presidential nominees are subject to confirmation proceedings, where applicable from time to time.

Mr. Brown has a wealth of experience in diplomacy in the governance process of Liberia over the years.

He also served as former Foreign Minister during the regime of former Liberian President, Charles Taylor.
