(elbcradio/March 2, 2016) – The Champions of the Liberia Football Association, Nimba United, has been eliminated from the CAF Champions League.

The Mountaineers were beaten 1-0 on Sunday, February 28, 2016 by Union Duala in Cameroon in the return leg of the CAF Champions League Preliminaries.

According to our reporter, Samuel Nlend netted in the only goal of the match to take his goal tally against the Liberian Champions to three. Nlend scored twice against Nimba United in the first leg at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia recently.

The 1-0 win means Union Duala has progressed to the next round on a 4-1 goal aggregate score line, after winning the first leg 3-1 in Monrovia. Report says, Nimba United had couple of chances of scoring, but poor striking hindered their efforts to overcome their relegation.

The host team had praises for the Liberian Club, owing to the performance to put out in that match. Meanwhile, the Liberian Champions will now return home to focus on the domestic league which they started poorly.

Nimba United had couple of outstanding matches they need to win to put up a serious challenge for the League title.
