(elbcradio.com/Mar. 14, 2016)-Vice President, Joseph Boakai, has admonished the Obasanjo Farm Management to increase its production of chickens and related products on the Liberian market.

Vice President Boakai also said the increase in the farm’s products is important for reducing the importation of huge quantities of chickens and other frozen meats into the country.

Speaking during his recent visit to the farm over the weekend, the Vice President praised the Management for its impressive operations.

The Obasanjo Farm, located in Grand Cape Mount County and owned by former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, produces huge quantities of chicken eggs daily.

Meanwhile, VP Boakai has assured the residents of Grand Cape Mount County that the pavement of the Robert Sport/Medina Highway remains government’s top priority.

His statement was in response to an early appeal by the county residents for the highway’s pavement.

At the same time, Vice President, Joseph Boakai, has lauded community radio stations in Liberia for their meaningful contributions to bridging the communication gap between the government and its people.

Vice President Boakai said no matter how good government policies are, if the people remain ignorant of such policies because of lack of information, the execution of national development programs and projects could experience setbacks.

He said community radio stations should be strengthened, encouraged and promoted to enhance community development at the grass root level.

The VP’s comments were contained in a speech delivered on behalf of Ambassador Boakai by the Media Director in his office, George Saah.

Director Saah made the comments at the weekend during the eleventh Anniversary Celebration of Super Bongese Radio Station in Gbarnga, Bong County.

He said community radio stations are vital tools for the promotion of democratic values, commerce, health, agriculture and other important areas of society.

The Media Director in Vice President Boakai’s office emphasized that the community radio stations have also proven to be crucial in strengthening the rights to freedom of speech and expression.

He called on all community radio stations in Liberia to include peace and reconciliation in their daily programs.

Atty. Saah spoke on the theme: “The role of Community Radio Stations in Rural Development.”
