(elbcradio.com/Mar. 15, 2016)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has sent a message of condolence to the Government and people of Cote d’Ivoire, following the recent terrorist attack on that country.

The incident led to the death of over 16 people and to the injury of several others at the Grand Bassam Beach Resort, near the Ivorian Capital, Abidjan.

A Foreign Ministry release says the Liberian Leader expressed shock that such attack could happen in a neighborly and brotherly country.

President Johnson-Sirleaf said the attack has implications for the peace and security of the entire Mano River Union Basin and it generates a sense of foreboding in the Sub-Region.

She also said it was with deep grief that she extended heartfelt condolences to the Ivorian Government and people for the irreparable loss.

The Liberian Leader described the attack as senseless, and said it should strengthen the two countries, the Sub-Region and Regional cooperation’s resolve in combatting forces that threaten the peace and stability of the West African Sub-Region.

President Johnson-Sirleaf then assured her Ivorian counterpart that during such difficult time of mourning, the Government and people of Liberia stand in solidarity with them.
