ADB plays crucial role to Liberia, Africa's development...Pres. Sirleaf

(elbcradio.com/Mar. 17, 2016)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf says the African Development Bank continues to play a crucial role in the development of Liberia and the continent through the African Development Fund.

President Johnson-Sirleaf recounted that the bank has proven to be a credible and relevant vehicle in supporting Africa’s aspirations to improve the living standards of its people.

She stressed the need for assistance from the African Development Fund to be sustained as it was crucial to Africa’s development.

The Liberian Leader spoke Thursday, March 17, 2016, during the first replenishment of the African Development Fund in the Ivorian Capital, Abidjan.

The Bank seeks to identify and explore available options for mobilizing resources for additional subscriptions and supplementary resources, aimed at sustaining the fund’s operations.

President Johnson-Sirleaf said the event was on-going at a crucial time when Africa and the rest of the world were faced with difficult economic situation.

She also said, with the development of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Framework on Climate Change, more resources were required to support transformative programs to meet such targets.
