Pres. Sirleaf receives in audience Intl tourism team

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Ellen Johnson-f has received in audience a high powered delegation from the International Trade Center (ITC) on Tourism development.

The delegation was led at President Johnson-Sirleaf’s Foreign Ministry office in Monrovia Wednesday, April 20, 2016 by the Ministers of Information, Culture Affairs and Tourism and, Commerce and Industry, Eugene Nagbe and Axel Addy, respectively.

According to an Executive Mansion release, the delegation is in Liberia to hold the Second Stakeholders Consultation Workshop on developing Liberia’s Tourism Trade Strategy.

The Workshop is jointly organized by the Ministries of Information, Culture Affairs and Tourism, Commerce and Industry, and the International Trade Center.

Speaking at the meeting, President Johnson-Sirleaf welcomed the delegation to Liberia and recognized the individual talents of members of the delegation to explore the opportunities in the country’s tourism sector.

“The purpose of the Second Stakeholders Consultation Workshop is to refine and detail the Plan of Action developed in 2016 by stakeholders of the tourism sector,” she told the delegation.

“The Plan of Action was developed to consolidate it into a coherent Tourism Sector Trade Document to guide the development of Liberia’s tourism sector.”

The release said while the delegation is in Liberia, it will also hold bilateral consultations, networking events and complementary works, and make site visits in four counties to engage local communities.

Sites earmarked for visitation include Grand Cape Mount and Grand Bassa Counties, the Kpatawee Waterfall in Bong County, and the Sapo National Park in Sinoe County
