MONROVIA-LIBERIA- The Liberian Government has praised Outgoing Finance and Development Planning Minister, Amara Konneh, for his outstanding role in the transformation of Liberia.

Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, described Mr. Konneh as a dedicated and committed public servant.

President Sirleaf said:” Liberia has become a major recipient of more grants from friendly governments and the country experienced economic revitalization through the instrumentality of Minister Konneh over the years.”

“Minster Konneh has served the Government and people of Liberia with distinction, characterized by intelligence, competence, hard work and patriotism,” she noted.

The Liberian Leader made the assertions Thursday, April 28, 2016 during an investiture Program in honor of Outgoing Finance and Development Planning Minister, Amara Konneh at the Foreign Ministry in Monrovia.

The President also praised Minister Konneh for his role in the political transformation of Liberia which led the Unity Party to victory in the 2005 General and Presidential Elections.

The Liberian Chief Executive, however, said there are still major challenges of government that require the concerted efforts of Liberians if the country must succeed.

Responding, Outgoing Finance and Development Planning Minister, Amara Konneh, expressed gratitude to President Sirleaf, the  Government and People of Liberia  for their cooperation and support during his tenure.

“I succeeded in the things I did because of the cooperation and support I received from the President and my colleagues in government,” he said.

Minister Konneh described President Sirleaf as a visionary leader of humility and passion in the governance of the country.

He is expected to take up his new assignment with the World Bank in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi in early next week.
