MONROVIA, LIBERIA -The Senate Committee Chairman on Information and Broadcasting,  J. Milton Teahjay, wants international partners of the Liberian media transform their assistance into direct support to media institutions.

Senator Teahjay underscored the need for media institutions to transition from only conducting workshops for journalists to directly supporting their sustainability.

He said: “Such support was critical to ensure that media institutions are vibrant to uphold ethical standards.”

“International partners can mobilize support for the Liberian media in the absence of government’s assistance to sustain the media in the country,” Senator Teahjay noted.

Senator Teahjay spoke Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the opening of the ongoing two- day Liberia Media Law Reform Conference in Monrovia.

The conference is being organized by the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), in collaboration with USAID and Internews.
